Pearl River, NY – September, 2002 - Katz & Associates, the nation’s largest real estate company dedicated exclusively to retail, is pleased to announce the addition of Levitz and Seaman’s Furniture Stores, to its expanding client roster. An exclusive agreement to handle retail real estate transactions throughout the United States was recently executed.

Levitz was founded in 1910 and now operates 64 showrooms in the Northeast, Western United States and Minnesota. Prototypical size for new stores will range from 40,000 to 45,000 square feet. Stores are heavily advertised and feature an extensive selection of mid to better level merchandise.

Seaman’s was founded in 1933 and operates 52 showrooms for Seaman’s and Seaman’s Kids. All stores operate in the Northeast and the company dominates its category in all of its markets. It is a high volume specialty furniture retailer which targets its merchandise to appeal to the price-conscious middle-income consumer.

A new management group combined the two companies in 2001 and is now embarking upon an aggressive growth plan. Fifteen to twenty new stores are planned for the next fiscal year in existing and select adjacent markets.
