Katz & Associates Secures Deal For Galyan's First Store In Salt Lake City, Utah

Home Of The 2002 Winter Olympics

New York, NY (February, 2002): Katz & Associates, one of the nation's most rapidly growing retail real estate firms, announces the opening of Galyan's Trading Company's first store in the state of Utah, home of the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Katz & Associates exclusively represents all of the retail real estate transactions for Galyan's Trading Company. Galyan's is a unique, rapidly growing sporting goods retail chain that sells outdoor and athletic equipment, apparel, footwear and accessories. It also sells a significant amount of winter and sports merchandise. Galyan's presently operates 26 stores in 15 markets across the country.

John Beaney, Senior Vice President for the Western Region, successfully negotiated the lease for Galyan's first Utah store in the Gateway Center. Gateway is an urban, lifestyle project, which features Galyan's as its main anchor and is located in downtown Salt Lake City. This location opened in November of 2001 and is approximately 90,000 square feet on two levels. Adjacent to Galyan's on one side is the newly constructed 2002 Olympic Medal Plaza Amphitheater. On the other side of this location is the Delta Center, the largest concert and sports venue in Utah.

"This is an exceptional location for Galyan's. It's in the heart of Salt Lake City, with several major ski resorts within a short-driving distance, " notes John Beaney.
