On the founding of Katz & Associates, Daniel
B. Katz undertook a mission to develop an organization
of highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals
dedicated to the practice of comprehensive service
in the retail real estate industry.
Today, Katz & Associates Corporation is the
largest and most widely recognized retail real estate
organization of its type. The firm serves leading
national retailers in providing representation in
streets, strip centers and regional malls. In addition,
under Mr. Katz's direction, the firm has expanded
its services to include strategic planning, shopping
center leasing, initiation of development projects,
portfolio analysis, dispositions and repositioning
programs.
Mr. Katz built his career at Melville Corporation,
a $12 billion multi-divisional retailer, where he
served as President of its Real Estate Division beginning
in 1978. Previously, he served as Regional Director
of Real Estate at CVS and as Vice President of Melville
Realty Company, a position he held until he assumed
the firm's presidency.
Mr. Katz earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political
Science from Pennsylvania State University. He is a
Board Member of the Retail Board of Shopping Center
Business. He is also a member of the International
Council of Shopping Centers and the Real Estate Board
of New York. He is an active author and commentator
on trends in the domestic retail real estate industry,
writing for several industry publications and lecturing
in national and regional forums.
