Kevin M. Higgins serves as Executive Vice President at Katz & Associates. In this capacity, his responsibilities include real estate and brokerage duties for major national retailers, such as Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth, Loehmann's, Eastern Mountain Sports and Studio Movie Grille, DSW, Namco and several others. With 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, his expertise includes strategic planning, site selection, deal and lease negotiation and business development. He also oversees our co-brokerage network on the West Coast and Texas and manages the investment sales division at Katz & Associates, which provides due diligence for potential asset purchases, asset management, and sources of funding for note purchases and shopping center acquisitions.
Prior to joining the Katz & Associates team, Mr. Higgins served as the Real Estate Manager for the Northeast Region at Borders Group, Inc. Before this position, he served as the Director of Real Estate, Northeast Region at Melville Realty Company and, at the start of his career, as Vice President of Leasing for a New England based shopping center development company.
His education includes a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree, Cum Laude, from Harvard University with studies in theology, architectural history, urban planning and the built environment.
Active in the real estate industry and regarded as an expert, Kevin Higgins has guest lectured at Boston University's Program for Real Estate Studies. He has written several articles and scholarly papers on the economic impact of shopping centers. These articles referenced both the local and regional economy and the evolution of Main Street retail from the late 19th Century to present. As a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers he has chaired several of its Committees and panels, and has actively participated in the Congressional Contacts Meeting. Earlier in his career (1991-1993), Kevin was the ICSC New Hampshire State Government Affairs Chairman and between (1996 - 1998) was the ICSC Massachusetts State Retail Chairman.
